Has this jacket always been this tight? I didn’t need to wear spandex last time I wore this skirt… Why is this blouse not billowy anymore?
You sigh because once again, summer’s gotten the best of you. We’ve all been there. Year after year, we make a promise to ourselves—diet! Detox! Daily gymming! Cut down on those mixed drinks! But year after year, your motivation wears down somewhere into the second week of summer, and you’re back in the same situation.
I know, those margaritas in that little Spanish bar were just so good. You’re only human, after all.
But if there ever was a month for a detox, September would be it. After June and July’s partying madness and August’s travel indulgences (because no way you went to France and didn’t have at least seven macaroons), comes September. Your bulging belly is a sure indicator that your exercise plan needs tweaking.
The thing is, most of us that do have nine-to-five jobs can’t be bothered to fit exercise into our schedules, especially since “5pm” usually means working until six or later. And, if you’re not one of the lucky few that have access to a gym in their office building, those long work hours can mean sacrificing exercise for work. Luckily, there’s an easy solution to that: jog home.
No one wants to get to work all sweaty, so running to your office in the morning is out of the question. Jogging back home, though, is the simplest way to incorporate a bit of exercise into your schedule. Just bring along a pair of sneakers, a sports bra (women, this isn’t optional), and a shirt you aren’t afraid of getting a little damp.
Plus, you’ll feel way better about that Classic Burger lunch that your coworker convinced you to order. Trust me on that one.
